The Walkstar instantly became an icon adored by celebrity fans including Michelle Obama, Julianne Moore, Keri Russell, Laura Bailey, Daisy Lowe, Louise Redknapp, Penelope Cruz, Sofia Vergara, Helena Bonham Carter, Nigella Lawson and customers around the world, revolutionizing women’s footwear by integrating wellness into walking. Developed in 2006 by Marcia Kilgore and expert biomechanists, Dr Dave Cook and Dr Darren James of LSBU (London South Bank University), the FitFlop™ Walkstar sandal launched the brand in 2007.
With pop colours, sporty upper styling and unparalleled ergonomics, everywhere you went somebody was wearing them.
The brilliance behind it? FitFlop’s patented seamless triple-density Microwobbleboard™ technology, is engineered for a well-supported heel strike, with a high underfoot contact mid-step and a medium density ‘push off’ platform in the front of the sole, so it propels the walker forward and brings a feeling of natural movement, helping the body move as intended.
Set to be the go-to footwear this summer, the 2021 Walkstar collection maintains the classic silhouette and sporty aesthetic with striped webbing straps, available in original red, bronze, rose gold, navy and black, and is joined by a capsule collection in leather.
FitFlop founder Marcia Kilgore says: The year we’ve all just been through has cemented for us that health is wealth, comfort is key and what’s really important is feeling good. Our Walk-star sandals are like a yoga class for your feet. Slip a pair on for a daily ‘reboot’ for your alignment and your whole body will feel the difference, they’re literally happiness at your feet!
