From July 6, 2022, to January 22, 2023, Paris ‘ Musée des Arts Décoratifs will honour the bold and interesting creations of Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli (September 10, 1890, Rome – November 13, 1973, Paris ), which was greatly inspired by its close ties to the Parisian avant-garde of the 1920s and 1930s. Almost 20 years since the last retrospective dedicated to Schiaparelli at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the time has come to review the work of this extraordinary designer, her innovative feminine sense of style, her sophisticated and often eccentric designs, and emotion she brought to the world of fashion.

Shocking! Elsa Schiaparelli’s surreal world brings together 520 works, including 272 silhouettes and accessories by Schiaparelli herself, displayed alongside iconic paintings, sculptures, jewellery, perfumes, ceramics, posters and photographs of Schiaparelli’s friends and contemporaries: Man Ray, Salvador Dalí, Jean Cocteau, Meret Oppenheim and Elsa Triolet.
